Industrial Kitchen Styles

The popularity of TV chefs in the 1990s had a profound effect on kitchen design. Polished steel, large functional hobs and above all, a design methodology that placed cooking at the heart of the kitchen came to dominate the market. The change from the eighties at first seemed small, because throughout that decade kitchens had looked great with acres of chrome, but that was also the decade of conspcuous consumption, nouvelle cuisine and eating out. Top end kitchens were to be admired, but rarely used.
